How do I recognize if my athlete is burned out?

It is important to watch out for signs and symptoms of burnout in athletes to help mitigate potential short- and long-term effects. If you feel your child is exhibiting signs of burnout, discuss this with them and consider taking a break to help them recover.

Symptoms of burnout can include

Fatigue Irritability Sore muscles
Depression Decreased
self-confidence
Restlessness
Loss of social
interaction
Anxiety Frequent illness
Loss of motivation or
interest
Loss of appetite  
Sleep problems Decreased
concentration
