My athlete wants to play on multiple teams in the same sport at the same time during the season. Is this OK?

  • Playing on multiple teams at the same time is not a safe and healthy way to promote your child’s development. Instead, this can lead to overtraining and increase their risk of injury, illness and burnout.
  • Overscheduling can even lead to social isolation, stress and sleep impairments that undermine performance academically and athletically.
  • Instead, use this opportunity to discuss the athlete’s goals and develop a more effective way to train to meet those performance goals.
