How many hours of organized sports per week should my young athlete play?

Print
  • Adolescents who participate in organized sports more than 16 hours per week may be at an increased risk of injury. The number of hours per week should be less for younger children.
  • Young athletes who train more hours than their age may be at greater risk for serious overuse injury (e.g. If you are 12 years old, you should train no more than 12 hours/week).
